Mindfulness-Based
Supervision
and
Mentoring
This 4-session group, facilitated by the co-authors, will provide space for collective reflection and exploration of ideas, insights and experiences arising from reading and engaging with the book Mindfulness-Based Supervision and Mentoring: Using an embodied approach to support learning and reflection.

The intentions of this event are:

1. To draw on the highly relational nature of this work to create together an open, welcoming and inclusive space with opportunities to hear new ideas and different perspectives.
2. To offer a structured approach to reading and engaging with the text.
3. To support a deeper exploration of the content and themes of the book through activities such as: -practices and questions to guide personal reflection,
-coming together as a group to share connections with group members’ experiences, new ideas or impressions, and challenges and wonderings, and
-to explore what group members might take forward into their mindfulness-based practice and work.

About the facilitators
The co-authors, Alison Evan and Pamela Duckerin, have been co-facilitating mindfulness-based supervision training since 2019 through the Mindfulness Network. In their recent publication, they describe a unique mindfulness-based approach to supervision/mentoring that is both framework and practice driven.
They are both passionate about supervision and about engaging in collaborative conversations that help deepen their love for and commitment to enhancing the art and craft of mindfulness-based supervision.
Alison is currently the supervision lead at the Mindfulness Network and one of their team of supervisors. Mindfulness-based supervision has been a core part of her work for many years- supervising, training others to supervise, reflecting, researching and writing about it. Please see her website for further information on her biography: www.vividmindfulness.co.uk
Pamela is part of the supervision team within the Mindfulness Network and offers supervision to mindfulness practitioners worldwide. She has worked in the field of mental health for 41 years and alongside direct clinical work, clinical supervision has been a significant part of her work.

Who is it for
This group will be of interest to practitioners with a personal mindfulness practice and who are at any stage of offering or thinking of offering mentoring or supervision. The mentees/supervisees may also be engaged in mindfulness-based endeavours and therefore a mindfulness-based approach will be explicit within your dialogue together, or the mentees/supervisees may be engaged in some other form of professional work and you as the mentor/ supervisor wish to bring a mindfulness-based approach into your engagement and relationship with them.
You will need a copy of the book and time to read and reflect between sessions, likely 2-4 hours for each session.

Details
The sessions will be 90 minutes each and held on zoom. It’s likely to be most useful if you are able to attend all four sessions but not essential to come to all 4. There are two choices of day/time for each session and you are welcome to attend any combination e.g you could attend sessions 1 and 2 on a Tuesday and sessions 3 and 4 on a Thursday.
The first session will include introductions, exploring the unique supervision framework and setting up the reading and reflections. We will then move in closer to the content of the text, in session 2 examining the elements that make this approach clearly mindfulness-based, and in session 3 investigating how supervision/mentoring is informed by context- that of the supervisee, the context within which they are working, and wider societal context. The final session will encourage reflection on you as supervisor/mentor, including your ongoing learning and development.
